The Alfa Romeo Giulia is a 3x winner

3 awards won for the giulia

overview

With over 60 years of evolving beauty, the Alfa Romeo Giulia has always been in the conversation being a top-rated sedan. Recently, the Giulia took first place in three categories for the illustrious specialist magazine, SPORT AUTO. The SPORT AUTO AWARDS are in their 29th Edition and have over 15,000 readers that vote on a selection for 234 cars, split into 28 categories. The German magazine took votes from their sport-car fan base, whose love for the Alfa Romeo Giulia was well demonstrated. The three categories in which the Gilia took place in were all for imported sedans and station wagons, with each specific category being broken down by price. The three production cars from the Alfa Romeo Giulia line to receive an award are as follows, the Giulia 2.0 Turbo Veloce, Giulia Quadrifoglio, and to top off the list, the Giulia GTA.

Giulia 2.0 Turbo Veloce

Starting off we have the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0 Turbo Veloce that was voted first place in the “Production cars sedans/station wagons under €75,000” category. The Giulia Veloce was first presented in 2016 at the Paris International Motor show and was presented in two options, 2.0L Turbo and 2.2L Turbo. This version of the Veloce is the 2.0 Turbo and boasts a four-cylinder engine that can push up to 280 horsepower. One of the features that separates the Veloce from the base and Ti models, is that it comes equipped with an 8-speed gear box and the same all-wheel drive system as the Alfa’s Q4. This version of the Giulia sits comfortably between the Ti and Quadrifoglio packages offered by Alfa Romeo and is a perfect fit for someone who wants comfort with a little bit of speed.

Giulia Quadrifoglio

Next on the list of winners is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio which took first place in voting for the “Sedans/station wagons under €100,000” category for the fifth time in a row. The Quadrifoglio was first introduced internationally in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is designed to compete with cars such as the Mercedes AMG C63, Cadillac ATS-V and BMW M3. The Quadrifoglio is equipped with a twin-turbo 2.9L V6 engine and has the ability to push over 500 horsepower. An interesting feature of this engine is that it was designed by Ferrari technicians and is purposely designed to be related to Ferrari’s own twin-turbo V8 engine. Another distinguishing feature of the Quadrifoglio is its unique front bumper that comes equipped with a carbon fiber splitter and enlarged air intake for the twin coolers. The front wings also boast the unique Quadrifolgio badges right above the air extract for the wheel wells, the uniqueness of these badges comes from the Italian word Quadrifoglio that means “four-leaf clover”. With an acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, this is how the Quadrifoglio got its recognition for the combination of speed and luxury.

Giulia GTA

To top off the list of winners for the Alfa Romeo Giulia line, is the new addition and hard to come by Giulia GTA. The Giulia GTA was the #1 voted imported car in the “Sedans/ station wagons over €100,000” category and winning by a majority vote. The Giulia GTA was announced by Alfa Romeo on March 2, 2020, in two trims, GTA and GTAm. The engine in the GTA is quite the spectacle, coming in similar to the Quadrifoglio at 2.9L V6 Bi-Turbo engine but weighing 220 lbs less and pushing upwards of 540 horsepower. Aside from being the highest trim level on the line for the Giulia, what also makes the GTA special is that there are only 500 units produced in each line. You will also notice that the body shape of the GTA has more aerodynamic features, these were specially produced and derived from the technical expertise from Sauber Engineering in the Formula 1 scene. In terms of performance and power, there is not much competition for the Giulia GTA, also accompanied with the fact that there will only be 500 customers who get to experience the one-on-one purchasing experience and their own design.

Only 500 GTA produced

summary

With all this being said, it is no surprise that Alfa Romeo has been recognized for their production of not one model, but three different trim levels of the Giulia. The detail that is in every level from using the Q4 AWD in the Veloce, the unique “four-leaf clover’ badges on the Quadrifoglio, to the use of F1 design in the GTA, the Giulia is one of a kind. This is also not the first time the Giulia has been on a list for being at the top of its class, in 2018 the Giulia Quadrifoglio was name the Motor Trend Car of the Year, one of the most prestigious honors in the auto industry.
